Using charcoal pencils on paper, Nigerian artist Mayor Olajide spent under 150 hours creating a portrait of Queen Elizabeth.
Only 17-years-old, the artist studies architecture at The Polytechnic Ibadan and has been drawing since he was 5-years-old.
At the age of 15, Mayor was inspired by the work of Nigerian painter Erinze Stanley, who specialises in hyper-realism.
In a statement, Mayor said: “That his self-portrait, the one with water on his face, that was the one that inspired me the most. Kelvin Okafor and Ken Nwadiogbu, they also inspired me.”
Mayor has drawn portraits of many people including Barack Obama, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tupac Shakur.
“I draw any time I’m in the mood. I don’t have a specific time, even in the night I draw,” he said. It’s “something I do when I’m less busy, after school, during break time. A hobby.”
