US Paralympians will now earn the same amount of money as Olympians do for their medals!

Previously receiving $7,500 for gold, $5,250 for silver and $3,750 for bronze, Paralympic athletes will now earn $37,500 for a gold medal, $22,500 for silver and $15,000 for bronze.

After the 2018 Winter Olympics, The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) made the decision to make the prize money for Paralympic athletes equal to their Olympic counterparts.

Tokyo 2020 marks the first time where the athletes will be paid equally from the beginning.
