Married couple Ciara and Russell Wilson recently gave a presentation to middle school students in Seattle, US. They spoke about how it is never too early to learn about financial literacy.
Speaking to the students, Russell said, “Financial literacy and building wealth is so important.” The Seattle Seahawk’s quarterback added, “Ciara and I really wanted to talk to you all because we didn’t come from much and we had big visions, we had big goals, big dreams.”
Ciara gave advice on investing, the singer said, “All these things can pay back tremendously if you invest in them in the right way. Investing is very powerful and it will also allow you to create an opportunity to build a legacy for your family.”
Not only did the couple share their financial advice and inspiration, but they also donated over $35,000 to the school, enabling each student to receive a savings account with a minimum of $40 in startup funds. The couple did this through their foundation (Why Not You Foundation) as well as the NFL Players Association and the company, Goalsetter.
This isn’t Ciara and Wilson’s first gesture to students and their education. They also used their Why Not You Foundation to help with the funds for a local charter school that had been affected by the pandemic.
