Legally Blonde 3 is set to follow Elle Woods balancing motherhood with her legal career!

The new film, which is currently being written, will show Reese Witherspoon’s character in her 40s.

MGM’s Motion Picture Group President Pamela Abdy, told The Hollywood Reporter: “It’s really happening. Mindy Kaling and Dan [Goor] are writing it now for Reese [Witherspoon] to star. Reese and Lauren Neustadter are producing with Marc Platt.”

She continued: “We’re all developing it together. What does Elle Woods look like at 40? Elle is a mom with a thriving career. We’re looking forward to seeing the script come in sometime in the first quarter.”

Pamela also said they are hoping for actor Luke Wilson to return with his role Emmett Richmond.

Legally Blonde was first released in 2001 and the sequel was released in 2003.
