Woman Who Received $50,000 Scholarship In Drake’s ‘God’s Plan’ Video Graduates With Her Master’s Degree

In 2018, Destiny James appeared in the music video of Drake’s song ‘God’s plan’. In the video she received a $50,000 scholarship cheque. Fast forward to today, she recently just graduated with her master’s degree!

Destiny began her studies at the University of Miami in 2015 and graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health degree. She then went to pursue a master’s at the University of North Carolina in in August 2019.

Speaking to The Shade Room, she said: “Public health has been a passion of mine since 2016 when my dad passed from stage 4 lung cancer. Obtaining this degree is something I will always be proud of! The obstacles I was able to overcome fueled my fire and I am so proud to say I am now a graduate of the #1 ranked public school for public health in the country.”

Announcing her master’s degree completion, Destiny wrote: “Mama, I mastered it. Daddy, I did it.”
