In a new interview with Tamron Hall, Busta Rhymes opened up about a moment that inspired his 86-pound weight loss journey.
Speaking about his 2020 “Czar” music video, the 48 year old said, “When I shot that video, there’s a scene of me wearing all white with a head wrap. When I initially put that all white on, it showed how badly out of shape I was on camera. So we went in the dressing room and they duct taped my stomach down with electric duct tape.”
In October 2020, Busta Rhymes Revealed his incredible 86 pound weight loss on Instagram. Writing in all capitals, his caption read: “DON’T EVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF!! LIFE BEGINS RIGHT NOW!!! MY DEDICATION IS DIFFERENT!! I WOULD NEVER PUT OUT AN ALBUM AND NOT BE IN THE BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!! I RESPECT MYSELF TOO MUCH AND I RESPECT Y’ALL TOO MUCH!!! I’M ONLY HERE TO INSPIRE!!”
In November the “Touch It” rapper also spoke with Van Jones about an emotional moment when his doctor warned him about his health. Rhymes told Van Jones, “He says, ‘Your polyps grew so big that it blocked 90 percent of your breathing passage and if I send you home tonight and you sleep under the AC and catch a cold and that last 10 percent of breathing of your breathing passage gets blocked up, you are going to die tonight.’ The moment was an emotional wake-up call. I just started crying.”
Polyps are abnormal tissue growths that can grow in areas such as nasals, ear canal and the colon. They can become cancerous.
Weight loss is not easy but with consistency and dedication it can be done! Busta’s journey is an inspiring one and we hope it inspires anyone out there who is going through their own health journeys – whether it’s a journey to gain, lose or maintain weight. Health is wealth!
