Los Angeles County Named The Most Dangerous Area In The US For Natural Disasters

Known for its hot weather, beautiful beaches and being home to hollywood glam, Lose Angeles seems as if it’s the place to be. However, the Federal Emergency Management Agency have just released a report stating that Los Angeles County is in fact the most dangerous place to be in the United States, due to its susceptibility to natural disasters.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) came to this conclusion by calculating the risk factor for 18 types of natural disasters in every county in America. The types of natural disasters included, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, volcanoes and tsunamis.

FEMA calculated that Los Angeles country sits at first place in the National Risk Index.

The index measured how often disasters happen, the size of the population, how much property could be damaged, how socially vulnerable the population is, and how adequately an area can go back to normal. Furthermore,  LA’s dense urban environment makes it number 1 for natural disasters.
