The Original Cast Of “West Side Story” Will Reunite For 60th Anniversary At The TCM Classic Film Festival

Something’s coming to TCM and HBO Max, and it’s going to be great.

The annual TCM Classic Film Festival will start with a screening of “West Side Story” to celebrate the film’s 60th anniversary. Stars of the Oscar-winning movie, such as Rita Moreno, George Chakiris, and Russ Tamblyn, will attend the virtual screening.

The festival will begin on Thursday, May 6, and go until Sunday, May 9. The “West Side Story” screening will air on the first day of the festival at 6 p.m. ET. It will stream on both TCM and HBO Max.

“We’re thrilled to expand this year’s virtual festival across two platforms — linear and streaming,” said Pola Changnon, head of TCM. “Our approach gives fans even more movies, stars, and unique presentations to choose from. The breadth of this festival will offer interest for every kind of classic movie fan — whether they’re new to this world or card-carrying cinephiles!”

This is the second year in a row that the TCM Classic Film Festival will take place online due to COVID-19 restrictions. But, the festival will still contain plenty of segments for fans to enjoy virtually. Through the TCM hub on HBO Max, viewers can watch exclusive interviews, film discussions, panels, and behind-the-scenes footage of classic films.

Other guests partaking in the event are Rob Reiner, Mira Nair, Ali MacGraw, and Danny Glover. They will all reflect on their legacies and speak about their most influential directing and acting work.
