Netflix will be making a film about Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton’s viral 2016 text mistake.
6 years ago Wanda Dench thought she was sending a text to one of her grandchildren inviting them over for Thanksgiving dinner.
Instead she sent it to Jamal Hinton, who was a 17-year-old stranger at the time.
Despite being told she had sent it to the wrong person, she still extended her invite after Jamal asked if ‘he could still get a plate?’
This year, Wanda and Jamal spent their 6th Thanksgiving dinner together.
Taking to Twitter to announce the Netflix partnership, Jamal wrote: “I am very excited to announce our new partnership with Netflix. We thank every single one of you for your love and support in our journey the last 6 years. We can’t wait to tell our story on the big screen!”
Sadly Wanda’s husband Lonnie passed away in April 2020 from complications of Covid-19. He was married to Wanda for 43 years and became close friends with Jamal.
