A recent episode of BBC’s Dragon’s Den saw a couple secure five investment offers for their brand, Super U!

Charlotte Bailey and Sean Ali met at Nottingham Trent University and graduated in 2016.

The couple created their natural superfood brand, Super U, when they were in their final year of studies. Charlotte,24, studied Law, whilst Sean, 28, studied business management.

Being key parts to Super U’s story, Charlotte was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in 2013 causing her to have severe fatigue and digestive issues. Then in 2018, Sean was diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Thankfully after treatment, he went into remission in July 2016.

The couple’s health challenges made them more determined to provide natural superfood products that provided benefits to one’s health & well-being.

After giving an impressive pitch, the former NTU students were able to secure offers from all of the Dragons on Thursday, April 8’s episode.

They then negotiated a joint deal with Dragons Tej Lalvani and Peter Jones for a £50,000 investment in return for 6% equity, with Tej and Peter receiving 3% between them.

We wish Charlotte and Sean all the best with Super U! For more information you can visit Super U’s website.
