Making history, Beyoncé became the most decorated female Grammy Award winner of all-time after she won her 28th Grammy at the 2021 awards ceremony!

The awards show saw the star win trophies for best R&B performance for ‘Black Parade’, best music video for ‘Brown Skin Girl’, best rap performance for ‘Savage remix’ and best rap song for ‘Savage remix’.

Beyoncé shared her win for best music video with her daughter Blue Ivy and Nigerian artist Wizkid, due to their ‘Brown Skin Girl’ collaboration. A first grammy win for Wizkid and Blue Ivy, Blue Ivy became the second youngest grammy award winner ever at nine-years-old.

Beyoncé also shared her award for best rap performance with Megan Thee Stallion for their ‘Savage remix’ collaboration- and husband Jay Z joined the duo for their win in best rap song due to co-writing it.

Accepting her award for best R&B performance and becoming the female with the highest number of Grammys, Beyoncé said: “As an artist, I believe it’s my job and all of our jobs to reflect the times. It’s been such a difficult time so I wanted to uplift, encourage and celebrate all of the beautiful black kings and queens that continue to inspire me and inspire the whole world.

“This is so overwhelming, I’ve been working my whole life since nine-years-old and I can’t believe this happened. It’s such a magical night, thank you so much. I know my daughter is watching – two daughters and my son ya’ll. Blue, congratulations, she won a grammy tonight! I’m so proud of you and I’m so honoured to be your mommy – all of your mommies. Y’all are my babies and I’m so proud of ya’ll.”

Turning to her husband Jay Z, she then said “I love you so much, my rock.”

With 28 Grammys, the music artist now ties with record producer Quincy Jones for the second most Grammy wins ever. The artist with the greatest number of Grammys is the late Hungarian conductor Georg Solti – he won 31 awards.

Beyoncé sure is a legend. Working towards her dreams since she was a child, she continues to inspire us with her work ethic, dedication and courage to dream.
