The founder of Spanx Sara Blakely has given each of her 500+ employees two first class plane tickets to travel anywhere in the world and $10,000 spending money!
The generous gift comes after the entrepreneur, 50, sold a majority stake in the company at a value of $1.2 billion to investment management company Blackstone.
Sara founded Spanx 21 years ago with $5000 savings. Before starting the company, she would sell fax machines door to door in Florida.
Captioning her inspirational announcement video on Instagram, Sara wrote: “Behind the scenes @blackroseofmysoulpanx telling the employees (some live and some on zoom) about the sale and partnership with Blackstone. It was an emotional announcement filled with happy tears acknowledging how far we’ve come.”
She continued: “And then the tears really started to flow when I surprised everybody with 2 first class @delta plane tickets to anywhere in the world and $10,000 cash to spend on the trip. I really want every employee to celebrate this moment in their own way and create a memory that will last them a lifetime!
