Last week, it was announced that New Zealand’s parliament had passed legislation allowing pregnant people and their partners paid leave, following the loss of their child at any stage during the pregnancy.

Following from this great news, a business owner from the UK has decided to also make the change.

Chris Donnelly, the founder and CEO of VERB Brands, took to LinkedIn to announce that instead of waiting for the UK government to pass the legislation, VERB Brands would also be allowing paid leave for both their male and female staff who experience a miscarriage.

The CEO wrote: “The very sad truth is that 1 in 8 pregnancies end in miscarriage and the toll this takes on someone and their mental health is immense.

“I am proud to say that we have taken the lead of New Zealand and rather than wait for our government to catch up, we have implemented the same change.

“We now offer paid leave for those who have experienced a miscarriage – for both men and women.”

Based in London, Manchester, New York and Shanghai, VERB Brands is a digital agency for luxury and premium brands.

We hope more companies make this change!
