Emma Stone Debuts As Disney’s Villain Cruella de Vil In New Trailer

Emma Stone channels her inner villain in the new trailer for Disney’s live-action Cruella

Earlier this week, The Mouse House released the official trailer for the film centered around one of their infamous villains, Cruella de Vil. The upcoming project will give a glimpse into the early years of the One Hundred and One Dalmatians antagonist. The Oscar-winning actress will play the wicked fashion designer in 1970s London.

At the beginning of the trailer, we get to see life before Cruella turned into the iconic villain. Estella de Vil can be seen wearing bright red hair. “From the very beginning, I realized I saw the world differently from everyone else. That didn’t sit well with some people,” she says, hinting at her career taking a radical turn.

Then, the trailer shifts to Estelle welcoming a “new day with new opportunities,” and revealing her new makeover at the luxurious ball. A montage of events flashes across the screen, showing Estella slowly turning into the villainous Cruella.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, Stone will be joined by an ensemble cast including Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beecham, and Mark Strong.

Cruella is scheduled to have a theatrical debut on May 28. As of right now, it is unknown if the film will be pushed to Disney Plus like the live-action remake Mulan. The highly anticipated film premiered on the streaming platform due to the pandemic.
