Zendaya Speaks On Being Proud Of Her “Disney Kid” Past In Variety’s Actors On Actors Series

In today’s world, it’s very common to see a lot of actors cringe at being known as a “Disney kid”. Distancing themselves from their past, many would rather be known for their accomplishments as an adult and not their “squeaky clean” Disney image. However, stepping out of the status quo, Zendaya has spoken out about why she still considers herself a “Disney kid” and is grateful for it.

Speaking with actress Carey Mulligan for Variety’s Actors on Actors series, the 24 year old responded to Carey’s, “You surely can’t think of yourself as Disney kid now?”.

Zendaya replied, “The thing is, I am and to a degree, I am grateful for that. That’s where I started, and I learned so much from that experience.

Zendaya also spoke about her shock in director Sam Levinson casting her as the lead in Euphoria. Due to still being on Disney before Euphoria, she explained that Levinson saw something in her that she never had the opportunity to explore.
